Inside the Seacrest Studio Internship at Children's National

Written by Seacrest Studios intern, Alyssa Kraus

My name is Alyssa Kraus, and I am so excited to be one of the interns in Seacrest Studios at Children’s National Hospital this Fall! As interns, we are all incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Seacrest Studios to improve our broadcast skills and spend quality time with our friends at the hospital. We love being able to explore new ideas and to push creative boundaries together, especially when these opportunities bring smiles to children at the hospital. Not to mention, all of the interns love the chance to have fun and embrace the child within all of us – especially when that includes silly DJ names and fun Disney games!

Each week, interns in DC work on a new project that incorporates broadcast elements centered around the patients’ interests. We love getting them involved and excited to help us out with our shows! Some of the main projects we work on here at Seacrest Studios include: designing interactive games, producing show content, DJing and hosting on air, creating music videos, interviewing celebrity guests, and filming virtual field trips. (As you can see from that list, there is never a dull moment around here – and we love it that way!)

As an intern at Seacrest Studios, I have already seen immense personal growth – and I’m certain it will continue throughout the semester! In my first few weeks, I’ve met incredible people – both in the studio and in hospital rooms – and I’ve seen my confidence grow exponentially. During the remainder of this internship, I hope to become a better broadcast journalist, through both technical skills and on-air skills. And most of all, I hope to continue to build relationships that I can carry with me into the future. As someone who values a future career in broadcast, I hope this internship grants me the skills to pursue those dreams – and I’m already positive that it will!

All of the interns here at Seacrest Studios are so excited for what’s to come this Fall – and we’re even more excited to share it with our friends at Children’s National!
