Straight No Chaser Performs At Seacrest Studios

By Whitney Osborne, Seacrest Studios Intern

Seacrest Studios at Cincinnati Children’s was so excited to welcome all ten members of the a cappella group Straight No Chaser!  It was a wonderful day with exceptional music.  The men got their start in the mid-1990s as college students at Indiana University and let us in on a little secret—they sang to meet their fellow female classmates and get free food!  After college, it was time to get “grown up” jobs and scatter around the country.  But many years later, the group posted a reunion song on YouTube and a music executive called and offered them a record deal.

Straight No Chaser could not emphasize enough (to the patients) the opportunities available with platforms such as YouTube.  But the message was consistent throughout—that they should be exploring music for the fun of it.

After a very entertaining interview with our patients and families, Straight No Chaser performed the holiday hit “Christmas Can-Can” and a cover of Pharrell’s “Happy.”  They even took requests from our audience!  After showing off their talents, they split into two teams to play a popular studio game show.  Laughter and jokes filled the studio during the visit. At the end of their visit, Straight No Chaser took time to visit and take photos with all the families that came to see them. We thank Straight No Chaser for the wonderful afternoon and the entertainment they provided the studio and viewers at Cincinnati Children’s!
